Chernóbil 24 años después

El 26 de abril de 1986 un fallo durante unas pruebas de seguridad en la central nuclear de Chernóbil, situada en la Ukrania de la antigua Union Soviética, provocó el mayor desastre nuclear de la historia. La cantidad de radiación desprendida por el reactor número cuatro fue 500 veces mayor que la de la bomba de Hiroshima.

Todavía no existe una cifra de muertos por el accidente pero sus secuelas siguen vivas en Chernóbil. Entre las fotos de los diferentes actos de homenaje y protestas antinucleares (como la que encabeza el post) os dejo estas imágenes de la ciudad fantasma de Chernóbil que nos ha enviado al periódico la agencia EFE por su servicio.

Esta es una edición de las mejores fotos de la agencia francesa Afp que han llegado en los últimos diez días. Pero no me ha costado mucho encontrarlas. Los editores de la agencia se encargan de seleccionar esta preciosas gemas fotográficas y enviarlas cada ocho horas a los abonados con la etiqueta de Top Shots. Muchas de estas fotos tratan temas poco noticiosos y se puede pensar que es fácil conseguir una imagen bella en estas informaciones más tranquilas. Pero no es cierto. Ademas,  muchas de estas imágenes tratan temas de gran tensión informativa con grandes alardes estéticos.

Es de agradecer este tipo de servicio en una agencia de información gráfica. Por esto y otras razones que cuento en un post que dediqué a esta agencia, France Press es mi favorita. Espero que os gusten esta selección de lo mejor de los top shots de los últimos 10 días… un ejemplo de buen fotoperiodismo.

Dos años en La Mesa de Luz

El pasado 10 de Abril cumplí dos años con este blog de un esbirro de la edición gráfica que es La Mesa de Luz. Esto quiere decir que ya llevo dos y medio trabajando en la moqueta de la redacción de Público. Para celebrar este segundo aniversario he decidido hacer un pequeño homenaje a los fotógrafos de prensa que trabajan ahí fuera y que me dan la materia prima necesaria para realizar el blog. Se podría decir que este post aniversario trata en exclusiva de fotógrafos trabajando, una de mis tags favoritas. Incluyo esta etiqueta en los post donde se ve a los compañeros trabajando o hablo de cómo trabajamos los fotoperiodistas.

Quiero daros las gracias a todos los que leéis esta humilde bitácora y en especial a mis compañeros en la mesa de edición gráfica en Público. Sin Jon, Pedro, Victoria, Fernando, Mónica e Imma y su apoyo y ayuda, no sacaría muchos temas y no tendría ese ratito de vez en cuando para hacer el blog.

Espero celebrar muchos más años y que sigáis disfrutando con este espacio de la misma manera en que yo disfruto haciéndolo. Gracias a todos.

Impresionantes estas imágenes de acontecimientos deportivos con los compañeros y todo su equipo. La rápidez y movimiento de estas informaciones hacen necesario la utilización de varios cuerpos con diferentes ópticas. Muy duro el trabajo de los fotógrafos que hacen ciclismo teniendo que moverse por la carrera encima de las motos, mi jefe Jon Barandica sabe mucho sobre este tema.

Pero la parte más peligrosa la viven nuestros compañeros en zonas de conflicto. Muchos son los fotógrafos que mueren cada año intentando llevar la información a nuestros hogares. He aquí tres ejemplos de fotógrafos cubriendo temas peligrosos donde un chaleco antibalas o una máscara de gas son otra herramienta más del fotero.

Hay quién también calificaría las informaciones del corazón o los photocalls cómo una zona de conflicto. Esos lugares donde la aglomeración de medios en busca de la imagen de las estrellas y famosos hace difícil trabajar. Las normas de movimiento en este tipo de temas siempre las he comparado a las de un partido de baloncesto donde hay que coger la posición sin hacer falta al contrario.

Las dos imagenes siguientes son de una manifestación de fotógrafos que hubo en Trafalgar Square en Londres para protestar por la persecución de los compañeros por parte de la policía en el centro de Londres. Hay que mantenerse vigilantes para que el derecho a la información no sea recortada en nombre de la seguridad de los ciudadanos.

Por que tener acceso, que te dejen hacer la foto, muchas veces es más importante que hacer una buena imagen. Estar en el lugar adecuado y el momento oportuno muchas veces es algo que no se puede elegir.
