Veterans from World War II onward gathered for an annual breakfast to honor former servicemen and women. This year they were joined by younger military personel and veterans participating in a retreat organized by Project Sanctuary at Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The 6-day retreat, which employs «recreational diversion therapy,» is designed to give active duty and veteran families time to reconnect with each other, often after years of separation due to military deployments. Since 2008, the non-profit has held some 20 retreats with 143 families, and with 800 families on the waiting list, has another dozen retreats planned for 2012.   John Moore/Getty Images/AFP == FOR NEWSPAPERS, INTERNET, TELCOS &; TELEVISION USE ONLY ==
