This year they were joined by younger military personel and veterans participating in a retreat organized by Project Sanctuary at Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The 6-day retreat, which employs “recreational diversion therapy,” is designed to give active duty and veteran families time to reconnect with each other, often after years of separation due to military deployments. Since 2008, the non-profit has held some 20 retreats with 143 families, and with 800 families on the waiting list, has another dozen retreats planned for 2012.   John Moore/Getty Images/AFP == FOR NEWSPAPERS, INTERNET, TELCOS &; TELEVISION USE ONLY ==

YAZOO COUNTY, MS – MAY 23: The Yazoo River floodwaters inundate crops near Yazoo City May 23, 2011 in Yazoo County, Mississippi. The Yazoo River floodwaters are forecast to crest today around Yazoo City following the backing up of Mississippi River tributaries including the Yazoo River. Heavy rains have left the ground saturated, rivers swollen, and have caused widespread flooding in Louisiana.
